Episode 5 – Consequences

Hey, Tuck here telling you to donate to speltlore.com slash money please or patreon.com slash speltmore for more of this I'm doing an act out but you can't see it below the table show me your hands right now no, I'm still doing it Gather round friends let me tell you a tale of three heroes noble and bold a brute, a druid, and a thief who is but nine years old you know them by name you know them by deed their quests are famously daring so here I sit singing to you an adventure that is worth sharing Tuck is the brute, he knows not his home he loves to sing and fight fingers have health, he shifts his shape and wields a spear with great might Billy's a thief, his tiny size does mask the largest heart best and brightest they may not be but their friendship outweighs their smarts so gather round friends and listen close for the tale's about to start hello everybody and welcome to Spout Lore I'm your game master Sean O'Hara joining me as always playing Ving the half-elf druid Paul Oppers hi everybody playing Tacoma Dome the barbarian Abdul Aziz hello and playing Fat Billy the halfling thief Jessica Tai hello when last we left our heroes they investigated the temple of the bringers of the black flame meeting in the course of their investigation the Djinn Ninth who was also investigating the dark church to kind of figure out what was going on between the torch of McCall, the dark guard and how that would work out and how that would relate to the sort of global situation in general after that Ving communed with the spirits of the church engaging in a vision of a dark ritual from centuries ago in which members of a druidic offshoot consumed the blood of magic users to allegedly take their power it was pretty dark yeah it was pretty dark for a bit also you never said it was specifically of magic users in the episode ah that might have just been in your head maybe it was just a dream maybe it was just a dream maybe it was just a dream maybe it was just a dream maybe it was just a dream maybe it was maybe I shouldn't have revealed that no we need more info uh yeah so that is that's something that happened and uh that is where we find our heroes now I feel like you blew past the most important thing which is we found a dragon dragon yeah found the dragon uh uh Black Spire from Night's Embrace of Black Spire Rises forming a very quick and some might say foolhardy bond with an extremely dangerous animal which you uh have convinced you to do you have convinced yourselves you are now aligned with Tuck has already given himself a Black Spire tattoo and it doesn't look good and also isn't permanent so uh huh how is it temporary?

He drew it on with a sharpie marker he just has a sharpie on him uh and we talked about it we're gonna we're gonna do a little bit of a jump ahead so I would like you all to answer to me how did you get Black Spire into a lane spring so that you could get Black Spire into a lane spring without causing an international incident what do you mean without causing an incident it was an incident all right we can flash to uh Farah's office Farah's quarters in the library there's people running by her door frantically panicking people are losing their minds papers flying up in the air for some reason there's shouting she's got her hands steepled in front of her face and she says I'm not going to do that I'm not going to do that I'm not going to do that I'm not going to do that I'm not going to do that I'm not going to do that all right I would like you to explain to me as quickly as possible how you found a dragon removed it from this buried temple of which you speak and then got it all the way back to the library and Tuck is crying he's like Farah please he followed me home and he's my best friend now and all I wanted to have was a pet dragon and you need to I'm sorry I've always said I couldn't have one because I wasn't responsible enough, but I killed the torch of McCall.

And I feel like this is the least he could do. She puts up her hands and she says, first thing I never told you that you could not have a pet dragon. This is a conversation we haven't even come close to having any point in the short amount of time we've known each other. The dragon being here besides being alarming is not a problem per se. Awesome. We have a great number of librarians who would love nothing more than the opportunity to study a live dragon. So it may remain in the library.

And Tuck goes, and he wipes his snotty nose across his mouth. And he's like, I swear we'll walk it every day and feed it also. Again, this is something that the library is more than happy to take care of. You're not, this is not a stray dog, Tacoma, don't. This is a dragon. She's looking at the three of you expectantly. I was actually like pressed up against the window looking outside with like my binoculars. And like, I have a lot of ash on my hands from the journey.

So I turn around and like, wait, what, what was the question? Billy's got glasses. Yeah. Do you have black rings? There was, there was no question, Billy. Um, the dragon can remain here. We have facilities. This library is enormous. As you might expect, we have facilities capable of giving ample room to, what did you say? Its name was? Black Spire. It's from Knights Embrace of Black Spire Rises is his full name. And he loves to eat obsidian. And he's cool as shit. He's so cool.

And he likes pushing around nerds. And he likes hard death metal. Music. I imagine. And he, he pukes lava sometimes, but it's fine. Once you said his name is Black Spire from Knights Embrace of Black Spire Rises. She grabs a pad of paper and starts writing furiously. She's like, you might be the only people that I'm aware of that has spoken directly to a dragon and learned anything of dragon language. This is astounding. Oh, uh, I mean, yeah, we've got tons of dragon. Language.

Do you want to talk to him? Talk to him? Yeah. Her eyes light up. Like she's 11 years old. She's like, I, I would love nothing more, but I, he's in the room. Yo, what's up? I imagine he's like outside. I'm watching. I'm watching all the librarians like flock around him and they're trying to feed him like those idiots. Like he's not going to eat books. He's not a nerd. Yeah. Okay.

If you, if Farah has a little glass, like, uh, like a little glass window set into the wall that Billy's like, he's looking through and through it far on the other side, you can see black spire in the entry, like where that, um, the atrium kind of zone, like glass roof. We have with sunstone roof. Yeah. With the sunstone roof where the thing that you ride comes down and you get out into it. Cause he had to, he's huge.

He had to like force his way through, but now he's just on the floor in the atrium and there are librarians all around him. I like the idea that Billy was looking at it and he saw librarians writing in books and he's like, you can't feed them books. He's stupid. And I'm also, if it helps, like you picture the scene, I've pushed up my chair up to the like door where the window is. And I'm standing on like the top of the chair, like looking out, like so not smart about this.

And you can see him and he's in his like defensive posture. Like they're all around him trying to move forward a little bit. They're waving. Like it's fine. His tails up above his head, like a scorpion, like moving back and forth. He's lashing at people. Yeah. What's he saying? Uh, being, you can hear him from the door. Get away from me. Fucking nerds. Don't touch me. Nerds get away from me. Don't touch me. Where are my bros? Dragons are people too.

It's like the kind of thing you can't hear him. And then you open the door and you hear like, wait for my, where my bros at? Get away from you. He's fine. Um, yeah. So far, I would love to talk to him, but she first suggests that you, you all eat and maybe wash up because you're disgusting. What are you talking about? I'm so clean. The each of you is covered in a varying amount of a phosphorescent goo. It's mostly worm cum. Okay. First things first. It's not goo, it's cum. No, no, no.

Uh, master librarian mimes and fixing his glasses. I'm, I'm assuming that, you know, that that blue liquid is not purely, they're seminal fluid, but so you admit that some of it is seminal fluid. Some of it is. Yes, most certainly. What is your, um, what's your next step now that you know what, you know, our next step is to go downstairs and get those nerds away from black. All right, please. Then please lead the way. Okay. We go downstairs. Yeah.

And you go down to like the lower level, like the lowest level of the atrium where black spires, he's filling up the whole center corridor, like between where the stacks start. And he is just like, Oh, chomping at people, like trying to get them to step back. He's got his little wings flared up above his head and they're kind of shaking. He's like, get away from my wings. Look at me. I'm just trying to intimidate them with breathing fire. Yeah. And you hear a noise.

He might've been way too scared to do it when you guys first met him, but he's making this, like, it sounds like a rain stick almost like it's like a cascading clacking sound. And you can tell he's like snapping his scales together to make it like, uh, uh, make a like shaking sound. So cool. Is there any onyx around here? Can we bring him a snack? Not around here. Like not in, you're in a library right now. Yeah. But if Billy, if you brought some, if you brought like a bone, I don't know.

I grabbed a bunch of like balled up paper that from like the waste basket. You could switch through it. Yeah. I'm going to try to switch through it. That's okay. Yeah, totally. Sure. Great. I think he's just telling them to back off and to let them know that's okay. And tech's just pushing nerds. Yeah. Get away from, Oh yeah. I only got six. Okay. I embarrassed myself in front of black spire. I mean, if someone wants to aid, yeah, somebody could aid.

Um, Oh, it's just, maybe he's like talking about Larry Terry and Chad. Oh yeah. You could just be boosting me up. You made people out of rocks. Yeah. And I'm like, I'm just like so stressed out right now. Cause I'm like, for some reason, like rock and like paper. So different. Yeah. You need scissors in the middle there. Yeah. You think Billy's a little gun shy because a bunch of people are watching. Yeah. He has fair watching. All the librarians have turned at us.

I'm like, I'm not used to like all this attention, such a wallflower. Uh, so Vang 2d6 plus bond to aid. Nice. Eight. Yeah. So that makes, that makes a Billy, uh, seven, which means that, yeah, you're able to turn these little crumbled up pieces of paper into a little bit of obsidian. It's just a couple of pieces. Yeah. That's the thing is you're going to have to figure out a food, a source for him. Well, below the library, there's all that. Yeah. There's the mine. Yeah.

If we find them a giant skeleton, I could eat that. Oh yeah. If you got them into the mine, he'd be able to explore and bones and stuff, but you'd have to convince the library that it's a good idea to let a dragon desecrate a ruin. Sounds like something we would do anyways. Yeah. So that's something to consider. So Billy, you've got a little bit of obsidian in your hand. Yeah. So I, I give it to you guys. Yeah. I just go up, walk up with, Hey, man, I don't, I don't know about this place.

Like there's a bunch of dweebs around and they're getting real touchy and it's Tuck's taking care of them. Yeah. Tuck is like just pushing nerds being like, give them room. He's cool. Just give them room. You nerds back off. The walk here was like bad enough. Like it was so bright and it took forever and it's, I'm so tired. You're such a good dragon. Thank you. Inside another place. And it smells gross out here. And I just, why I should just go back to my hole.

Man, there is so much more where this came from. Onyx and adventures with your friends. Us. You keep saying Onyx. Is that different from obsidian? Obsidian. Yeah. Onyx is a stone. Yeah. Okay. Obsidian is like a glass. Okay. Obsidian. What does he like again? Onyx obsidian obsidian, but also, you know what? Spout Lore interchangeable. Who cares? All right. So he's like, what do you like? More? What do you mean? Oh, I mean, this library is built around minds. Uh huh. Obsidian minds. Um, okay.

Pretend I know what that is. There's like, uh, it's like the big gulp of obsidian. It's like a huge pile of delicious food. Okay. All right. It's like the Costco of, he doesn't know the word obsidian. He just knows it's like big crunch. Yeah. And he also doesn't know what a mine is. Oh, he doesn't, but he knows what seven 11 is. It's a big gulp. That's a big gulp. So I'm trying to talk to him on his terms. We're talking to literally like a homeschooled kid.

His parents also didn't give a shit about his education at all. So he knows nothing. He is a fucking dolt. Like he could, he's so, uh, unfamiliar with the world. You like black snacks. There's plenty more black snacks. All right. I mean, fine. How long is it going to take? I don't know. Not long. Yeah. And plus, I don't know. You can beat up some of these nerds if you want. I just wonder, it seems like these people are kind of freaked out that I'm around.

So I'm just wondering like, how am I going to like get, am I like rare or something? Are they like unfamiliar with what my deal is? Can we, can Billy and I talk to him? Yeah. I was thinking this might be a good opportunity. I might, a thing that the Chamberlain rings might be able to help with. Oh, that's a good idea. Like that. Ving can kind of put you guys on the same frequency. And he can using the Chamberlain ring. He can like, commune with the whispers of his friends or. Yeah. Oh yeah.

This is the thing you guys figured out on the walk over. We've done it before. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. So we're all holding hands. And no, you're just wearing the rings. Yeah. You're not to hold hands. And you guys are the only three people. We can hold hands. Hold hands for moral support. Keep grabbing Billy's hand. Yeah. Cause Billy keeps getting too close. And Black Spire hasn't realized how little Billy is. It's like a cat, right? Billy's right in front of him. So he can't even see him.

He's so small. Billy's holding his hand. And then you hear him like huffing a breath through his nose. And he goes, Oh right. Hey, little guy. Almost smooshed you there. Sorry. And Tuck, like Tuck looks at Black Spire and he's like, you are rare. You're the most rare and beautiful thing that these people have ever seen. And you know what that means? They'll give you as much of the black crunch as you want. The black crunch is infinite from these fucking nerds.

So, nerds have infinite black crunch. They have so much black crunch. And they said they would feed you and also walk you sometimes. So we don't have to. Nerds. Nerds have a thing that I want and they will willingly give it to me. Yeah. Because you're so rare and cool. And everyone thinks you're rare and cool. This is how bullies are made. I've only heard tales of such things. If this is true, this is truly a place that I would be happy. To stay.

But my concern is that I will not be able to probably leave very much. Yeah. You can come and go as you please. Okay. No one's going to cause any problems for me. Could he climb up to the open that, you know, like the top of the atrium is like kind of a glass ceiling kind of thing. Can he get, can he climb up there on his own? They actually have like chambers in the library that are for studying animals. So they have like basically an enclosure, that he can stay in.

I don't like him in an enclosure. This is us talking to a librarian. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, okay. Something for you to maybe consider next time you bring a gigantic magical animal here is where. Friend. Friend. Sure. Whatever is where he is going to stay. And also if he leaves, people will see a gigantic dragon walking around. What's wrong with that? They exist. How rare are dragons? Sean O'Hara asking the players. Very rare. They're very rare.

So like that's, that was one concern I kind of had is like he leaves that cave. He walks around. He's now a dragon in the wild. What if someone hunts him? Like you think someone might try and go, Oh, poachers. We didn't think about that yet. Oh no. Dragon hunters were a huge thing. Oh yeah. Yeah. We can't. Black Spire. I'm so sorry. You cannot like just wander around. Like you're, you're that special that people might hurt you and we don't want people to hurt you.

We wanted to know that you're happy eating your snacks. I really appreciate that love one. See no names. Have you told them your names? No, no little one, big one, skinny one. That's all I need to know. Okay. Well, I mean it was pretty cool seeing the desert with y'all. Y'all and it's cool seeing this place. I guess I like my hole, but this is fine. This whole place is just a bunch of holes and you can go into those holes and out of them. Whatever you want. Whoa. Go in and out all day. Wow.

You want to leave? You get out of the hole. You want to go back in? You go back in. There's dry holes. There's wet holes. Sometimes they're dark. Sometimes they're not. Sometimes they're cold. Sometimes they're warm. Wow. And these holes are full of nerds. Nerds. Nerds. Nerds. Nerds. Who love you. Who love you. And we'll bring you black snacks. So stay in our holes, Black Spire. All right. Okay. Holes it is.

And one of the, the, uh, librarian you were talking to just before it was like, we decided that it might be best for him to also have access to the mine. Yes, he would like that very much. He consumes obsidian, correct? Yeah. Yeah. At an alarming rate. So he will likely be eating the skeletons in the mine. I think he would very much like to. Okay.

Um, there, I would say that I have to pass this, uh, up the chain, but you are apparently close personal friends with the two highest links in this chain. So whatever I say would be disregarded basically immediately. So this guy knows what's up. I suppose. I think we'll start making preparations to get him into the mines. Sick. Yeah. Black Spire is gonna love this. And also if you could like make a saddle for him, that is a good set to go now. No way. Come back. I want to describe this set.

I have a bunch of drugs. Come back. He walks away. He's not interested. I have a rough mock up. Gotta get this fucking saddle made. You basically get told that they're going to figure out a way.

Now that you guys have like really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, then why don't you just go get the skeletons that we found in the fucking desert and just use those? He was going to eat those anyway. So it's just an even trade.

It's super easy to work out smartest people in the world. And then we all high five. It's a very confusing high five based on varying heights. So it's kind of angled down. Oh, sorry, Billy. Down, down, low. Do this again. Do it slow. And then this is. That works really good. Actually works really well. That's cool. Nice job. Sean, take a picture. I will. Stop moving it. That's for sure. He'll have free reign of the of the giant minds and you can visit him. Come and go as you please.

There is going to be a team of librarians that will be trying to study him just at all times. Good luck. I was thinking about every time you've come back. Come back to the library with some casual statement. You've given like 20 people three years of work. And yeah, so Perel meets up with you later and is like, so what now? I mean, we need to get you your magic back. Broadly. Yeah, that's sort of. I'm just starting at the bottom. Yeah, totally. To the top.

We were thinking next step is go back to McCall and try and track down the Medjay. Yeah. The dark druids. Right. Point of order. The Medjay are not dark druids. The dark druids are, as far as we can tell, an old sect, an old offshoot. The Medjay are centuries ahead of that. All right. Less blood sacrifice and more elemental connection. And they're still pretty dark. I mean, don't start with that. They dress in robes. Don't lead with that when you see them is all I'm saying.

The one guy had that crown of hair that the druids. Used to have like a monk, a dancer or whatever, like the hole in the middle. This was just natural. He was going bald and you kept bringing it up and he was like, stop bringing it up. He was going bald in both directions. So he just had a circlet of hair. He was going bald from the top and the bottom. Poor guy. Yeah. So we go to McCall. Do you remember anything about where you might find them? Any sort of lead?

They found me when I was working in the sticks. They came to me one time when I was on a shift. So they seem to know the area over there. Maybe somebody in the sticks has seen them. That seems as good a place as any to start. We do have contacts in the sticks. Yeah. I mean, I think the jackals, we can probably talk to Jake and have him not kill us. The dwarves that work out there too. Yeah. The urchins too, if we wanted to. Yeah. Shia's apparently in the city. Right.

She's going to go back there. Let's get everybody on the lookout. Sure. All right. I was going to say that I thought of something that was in the bathroom. The Ving had one piece of information because he's the one who was supposed to. When they signaled him where to be, what he was told was to look for the black flame, the shadow of the flame. And there's this part of the sticks where it's all lit up at night. And during the day, the fire burns always to light because it's in the darker part.

And one of them is out and it just seems like it's always out. But you can see that there's still a flame. There's a shadow behind that one. The fire's missing, but there's a shadow of a flame. Whoa. Nice. So. And that was just happened to be like, they had to look for where that was. It just happened to be there. So we can go check out where that last one was, but it might not be there. That's. We should do that. They said I'd like to look for the shadow of the flame. Where do we start?

I guess you guys would just kind of hop on whatever the library equivalent of the bus to McCall is. We do have that bus. We've taken it before. Yeah. And they blindfold us and we're like, oh God, it gets so carsick. And it's like a centaur cart, like a centaur takes you back to McCall. So it, you know, a couple hours later. You get dumped back in the city and you're immediately hit with like the hustle and bustle of city life. There are people everywhere. Oh, right.

We haven't been back in the city since we destroyed the light guard. Yeah. Just be cool. Everyone at casual for Billy. I will say, Billy, you are struck by how loud it is. Like being such a little peaceful boy. You're like, I forgot how fucking cacophonous the city can be. It's a lot to take in. Yeah. People recognize us. Uh, I think McCall's too busy. Yeah. You know, like it over time, maybe somebody will recognize you, but like you, you're kind of hidden in the press of people. Oh, thank God.

Yeah. What, uh, what area of the city where we dropped off in? Uh, you are dropped off stepside in the upper ward. So you get like, just put in the most generic low class part of town. They don't want to draw any attention to the comings and goings of the library. So you're just, uh, you're actually pretty close to where, um, cash used to live. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Um, actually, now that I think about it, is it a good idea that we're in this neighborhood? Probably not. Do the food place. Wait, no, hold on. Double. Let me think about it. If the torch is out of the picture and no one's leading the light guard and the light guard aren't looking for us anymore. Are we in danger here? No, right? It's like the opposite. Our main enemy is gone. Yeah. Oh, I, all right. And he starts digging in his little money pouch. He's like, I'm going to get so many sandwiches.

Uh, yeah, you guys just figured out that we're not in danger. Please. You guys just grab some food. Yeah. Just chill for a bit. Oh yeah. Uh, yeah. So it's a coin and you can sit at the table. Like you're just sitting at a table in the sun. People bustling around you. Like if you liked living in McCall, this is like primo McCall vibes. What kind of sandwiches did everybody? I think the falafel ones. Cause they're the cheese. Yeah.

They come with so many different accoutrements like pickled radishes, sand cabbage, purple mustard, uh, milk beer. Wow. Paul just created so many foods. Yeah. Keep going. Yeah. Keep, I want five more bread toast. That's no, hold on. No, you got to do one again. Um, um, um, there's, um, cloth salad. There's, um, cactus. Uh, cactus. Something. Oh yeah. Cactus. Something. That's the chef surprise. Yeah. To choose a special. Today's cactus. Something.

I found something in our fridge and I threw it in with the cactus. If you want it, it's cheap. It might hurt you. You might get high. And Perel's just sitting there very happily. He's got like a little cup of coffee and he's like ripping bits off his bean sandwich and throwing them in his mouth. He's just like, so now that we're like, not now that we're not in danger, I feel great now. But what's the plan? We're going to go talk to Jake and the jackals. Yeah.

Or we could track down Shia, but that's a lot of work to go to the lower ward. Well, Billy gets people to approach him all the time. Oh yeah. Sorry. And I'm on my like second or third plate of sandwiches. I'm just like shoveling them in. You've had over 42 falafel balls. Oh, it's great. It's nice that they make them really small cause it's just like easier to eat. So yeah, I guess I could, we could go and talk to, to the, my friends down in the deep ward. Okay.

So you're just going to the deep ward where you used to hang out. You find them pretty. Oh, actually you go down to the ventilation and there are, they're not there. Like there's not, the kids aren't in their usual hangout spot. Hello. Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, Bethany, Bethany. Yeah. They're just not there. Weird. Yeah. Hmm. Can I do a move to see where they might've gone? Yes. Which move are you going to use? Connections. Nice. Can you read connections? It's been a bit. Yeah.

When you put out word to the criminal underbelly about something you want or need roll plus charisma on 10 plus someone has it just for you on a seven to nine, you'll have to settle for something close or it comes with strings attached. Nice. 10. All right. Nice. So you're, you're looking around in the ventilation. For a little bit being like, where are they? Oh, here's like a rapper. Here's like a little shoe or whatever that somebody left behind. It sounds like a crime scene.

The way you're describing. I'm like, they would never leave behind just a good shoe. Put that in my pocket. You're going to want it back. And you hear. What? Where? Behind the fan that you guys would stand in front of and like put your shirts on top of to make you all puffy. I would love that. Right. No, you see Kevin's face. Oh, Kevin, what are you? What are you doing back there? Billy? It's been so long since I saw you. Where you been?

Oh, I look back because I know I have to keep the library a secret, right? Yes. Yeah. We do this like zip it thing. Oh, I went on vacation. Okay. Okay. But are you back now in McCall? Yeah. Yeah. We're back with my uncle Perel. Okay. What are you doing here? Oh, I have a favor to ask. First off, why are you in here? Oh, I can't say. Wait, is it hide and seek? No. Well, I mean, I guess kind of, but like professional hide and seek. Who are you waiting for?

I'm, I'm, I may be employed by a certain figure. Who? Oh, I can't say. Do I have to roll again? No. He's like, he's like vibrating with excitement. He's like, okay. All right. I'll keep a secret. I'll tell you. He says, are you, you're working for the snake? Oh, is it the snake? Yeah. I'm working for the garden snake. We all are. You all are. So where's Bethany? She's rest. She's out. She's doing surveillance. She's surveilling up an operation. Wow. Okay. Okay. Wow. Okay. Okay. Okay.

Congratulations on your promotion. Is this your shoe? Oh, actually. Yeah, that is my shoe. Could you show, could you shove it through the great place? Yeah, here you go. I thought, you know, there's no way one of you would just leave a shoe. You just jam it through the metal. Great. That's blocking the fan. He's like, thank you. I've been walking a while with one shoe for like days. Oh, problem. Okay. So I need a favor from you. Do you know anything about like, it's weird.

It's, but it's like a shadow of a flame and it happens when there's no fire actually happening, but it's like in the dark, you can see it. I've heard some stuff about, um, um, oh, um, sorry. I've been doing so many things lately. My brain is so full of information. Though there have been more torches in the sticks lately. So you are you walk through sort of the mids like the area between step side and cliff side and step side is sort of the regular McCall people all over the place. You see like guard patrols everywhere. Well, not everywhere. You see more like guard patrols here. But as you get closer to cliff side, they thin out the crowds thin out. And once you get into the sticks proper, everything is very quiet. There are people on the street, but like everybody seems okay.

There's a lot of like closed doors and close like window shutters and stuff like that. You get the sense that there are a lot of people inside and you see members of the jackals with their leather vests and their knives. Is it night now? Uh, when I guess it kind of would have been probably like evening. Yeah. Sunset. Yeah. Yeah. Like the sun starting to set and the worm light is starting to glow through the neighborhood. Yeah. So everything is a wash in this blue glow.

The occasional torture lantern and you see jackals on street corners just kind of keeping an eye on stuff and they notice you and one starts jogging off down the street. Okay. And then on his forehead, he wrote his own name. Backwards. He didn't get the left to right on his forehead. So it's kind of backwards and mirrored. Hey buddy, what's cut mean? It says tuck, right? People are watching you walk by like very hushed. You can hear them whispering to each other as you walk past. And they lead you to the jackals hideout, which was in a bar in the basement of a bar. It was stray dog. Yes. Yes, it was.

And in in the sticks when you get close to the lighthouse, it starts getting dark because it's like oh in the shadow of the shadow of itself. Yeah. So yeah, it's more night here than it was back there. Yeah, the shadow of itself was my favorite album by the lighthouse singers choir men's choir. My mom had a it's a men's choir. It's all women's men's choir. So it's all tenor women. Yeah. Yeah, it was a man that some tenor women and yeah, the street is very quiet.

But once they take you into the stray dog, it's a lot louder. There's like groups of jackals around the tables. There are some regular kind of townspeople. There's a jug, a big glass jug with the cork pulled out in the corner. Music's blaring through the room. There's a guy DJing by like putting his hand over it. Just doing the cutoff.

Yeah, and it's like it's basically like it's like a punk bar in here. Like it's really loud. Oh, sick. Oh man, Black Spire would love it in here. Well, he's just and he's just in the mind like flicking a bone back and man, this whole, this whole sucks. I'm not even hungry anymore. I'm in my hole. Oh man, we gotta figure out how to make his hole like his old hole. You know, now that that goo's gone, I kind of miss the smell. No problem. I brought a jar with me guys.

And the the jackal leads you through the bar. A lot of people are like whoa, like pointing at all of you as you walk past and she takes you to the back down a staircase where it gets a lot quieter and sitting on his wooden crate throne with his wooden dog mask on is Jake the Jackal. For a while, there wasn't really any organization which allowed us to take full control of the sticks. Like we've got this neighborhood locked down. Amazing. Nice. And you know what?
