Spout Lore is a hilarious Actual Play podcast using the Dungeon World game system, brought to life by four award-winning comedians in Canada: Abdul Aziz, Paul Oppers, Shawn O’Hara, and Jessica Tai. If you’re looking for an improvised tabletop fantasy adventure that mixes D&D-style epic storytelling with side-splitting improv comedy, you’ve found it.

Each season follows a new party of heroes through a self-contained story arc — no homework needed, jump in at any season opener. Whether you’re a TTRPG veteran or a fan of actual-play shows like The Adventure Zone, NADDPOD, Dimension 20, or Critical Role, you’ll feel right at home at our table.

Want our same shenanigans but in a heist-driven setting? Check out our spinoff show, Mall Brats — a Blades in the Dark actual play where a crew of mall-rat kids run scores in a sprawling, semi-abandoned mall.

Hi smeltlorians, Abdullah here, just letting you know that we dropped a brand new episode of our Patreon-exclusive bonus game, Smelt More Mall Brats, over on our Patreon feed, and also dropping a little teaser here in the main feed for you guys. If you're interested, head over to Patreon for the full episode. Links are in the show notes. Why? Just like slammed up against the wall, like, oh! My eyes have gone dark. I aim, I throw. It's going to be a great effect.

For this experience point, I'm going to drop it down to limited effect. Because it's not going to be scary for everybody, it's just going to be scary for Kessarin. Like, you're not trying to blow her up, to be clear. No, if it happens. If it happens, it happens. And it's also, like, this is against the rules of war. Yes, that's true, you're trying to do direct harm. But, you know, Clover has gone a little mad. She's thinking, all's fair in love and war.

That specific quote that teenage girls are very obsessed with. All's fair in love and war, and you killed my boyfriend. You killed my boyfriend, you're stealing my house. This is over. You killed my boyfriend, you stole my house. You took my children away. You're trying to take my children away. My future children. No, Kate it. Oh, and my real children. The real children that live near me. Yeah, okay, so I'm dropping this down to limited effect for an experience point. What do I put it in?

Just whatever? Wherever you want. All right, I'll just put it in my playbook. Wait, it's desperate. Do you get an additional one? Oh yeah, every time you roll a desperate action, mark XP in that action's attribute. Okay, so I get a second XP? Specifically in the attribute that you're going to roll, which I think is probably… Wreck? I have one in wreck, so let's go. Oh, fuck it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it! What? No! No, that's bad. It is volatile. How many I could take a stress?

What I think the consequences can be. I think this isn't the kind of game where a firework blows up in a young girl's hand. I think it is the kind of clock where I just go ahead and check three ticks in the fire spreads clock. Oh, shit. You drop it behind you. Yeah, you throw it like a girl. And it just lands in front of you in a pile of like robes and like rags and oil. Like that garbage that you threw out earlier today. Yeah, yeah. Where you throw like Jessica. I throw like actual myself.

Where you supernaturally missed a garbage can. I don't know how I missed. It went through the bars onto the ground. It was ectoplasmic. It was literally the biggest, most wide open garbage can I've ever seen in my life. I am legendary in how unathletic I am. Yeah, I love it. I love it. Are we cool with me ticking this four step clock three times? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. So you throw this firework. It lands three feet in front of me. Yeah. I throw it down hard.

And Fenton is hanging there. Franklin is also sort of hanging. He's like, look. It just because it lands so close to us. You see the fuse like. It starts spinning and shooting. I wish I could make better firework sounds, but it's going crazy. And the thing of rags that you threw it into bursts into flames. Oh my God. A pile of carpets were hiding under. And that fire spreads to the point where you are cut back off from the rest of the store.

You see Kessarin behind the fire, but she runs out of the store and you are trapped here. What do you do? I just let go of the rope.
