Spout Lore is a hilarious Actual Play podcast using the Dungeon World game system, brought to life by four award-winning comedians in Canada: Abdul Aziz, Paul Oppers, Shawn O’Hara, and Jessica Tai. If you’re looking for an improvised tabletop fantasy adventure that mixes D&D-style epic storytelling with side-splitting improv comedy, you’ve found it.

Each season follows a new party of heroes through a self-contained story arc — no homework needed, jump in at any season opener. Whether you’re a TTRPG veteran or a fan of actual-play shows like The Adventure Zone, NADDPOD, Dimension 20, or Critical Role, you’ll feel right at home at our table.

Want our same shenanigans but in a heist-driven setting? Check out our spinoff show, Mall Brats — a Blades in the Dark actual play where a crew of mall-rat kids run scores in a sprawling, semi-abandoned mall.

Hi, Spoutlorians, Abdul here, just letting you know that we dropped another episode of our Patreon-exclusive playtest for our upcoming campaign, Up All Night, over on our Patreon feed, and also dropping a little teaser here in the main feed for you guys. So if you're interested, head over to Patreon for the full episode. Links are in the show notes. And you're a good distance behind trying to be nondescript, and they pull into Rosie's. Let's pull around back. Oh, let's go to Danny's. Right.

Yeah, across the street. Across the street. Yeah. There's no locals in Danny's, not at all. So Danny's is the truck stop right across the street, right across the highway from Rosie's. And you see the town car is parked in the parking lot. And you see the gray-suited individual sitting at a booth in the window, smoking a cigarette and drinking a cup of coffee. Okay. So they're human. They're drinking that coffee. We're like inside Danny's. We haven't ordered anything. We're just like…

He's also been in the sun the whole time too. That's true. Smart. Thinking. We're so tired. We're so tired. We're so tired. We're so sleep-deprived. Sterling wants to sneak over to the car, try and see if I can see anything from inside. Yeah. Sneak across the highway? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So yeah. Go ahead and roll sneak. Five? Okay. I got a five. Can I aid somehow? You can help. Could Ray and I make a distraction? Like, we go out in front and make out. Oh, you and Ray. Not me. Yeah. Sorry.

I was like, am I Ray? Am I jealous? Am I jealous of Tiffany? No. Wait. Am I jealous of Ray? I don't understand. No. Definitely not jealous of Ray. Yeah. That couldn't be it. So you are also going across the highway and making out with Ray in the front. I'm not going over to Rosie's. I'm hanging out across the road at Danny's. Like in the front of the… Kind of far away. Yeah. Kind of far away. Like, leaning up against Shelby. Like… Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Distracting. Yeah. Okay. And I help your plan. So Jesus goes around back of Rosie's and like sneaks into the kitchen. And then when he sees you guys like start going at it, he goes, oh, check it out. Those two freaks are going to have sex in the parking lot of Danny's. Okay. Get everyone to look out the window at you guys. Okay. So you're all across the highway at Danny's. Oh, we're ruining this for Sterling. Sterling sneaks across the highway. Sneaks across the highway.

Nobody sees anybody. The middle of the day. Yeah. The guy's in the window, literally facing the road that you're crossing. Jesus goes all the way across the highway, sneaks all the way around the back of Rosie's, goes into the kitchen. We're really tired. We're so tired. Sterling leaves and we're like, he needs our help. Yeah. Totally. The three, like, 24-year-olds hatch this plan. Yeah. Totally. Okay. So what are you rolling for this dastardly scheme? Um… Sway? Yeah, I guess. Or scramble?

Yeah. No, not for making out. What? Not for distracting. Make out fast. Compel. Compel. Yeah, compel would work. It's pretty compelling. Compel or sway. I think it's pretty compelling. Yeah. It is a compelling move. Yeah. You guys are both pretty hot. You've got pretty fat tits and… Yeah, the tits are the only hot thing. Ray is so hot. Yeah. Ray is really hot. Yeah. Cool. Holy shit. Okay. But this is a group action, right? I don't know. No. No.

This was an action and then, like, basically a distraction and helping the action. Okay, well… Okay, so I failed at helping. Yeah. So the help would be… Ray is not into this. Yeah. So the help would be you spend a luck and give Tiffany an additional die. I'll spend a luck. Do it. Really? If I can do it. All right. Uh, I could get six. Five. Five. Five. Okay, great. Yeah, great.

So that increases the impact with the setup of Sterling's sneaking over and going over and looking in the windows of this guy's car. Oh, yeah. That was the plan here? Behind the doors. I have, uh, you know, he's, um, a doors man of many skills. Yeah. I can get into this guy's car. Yeah, totally. Sneak around. Yep. And… Hunt around. You, uh, get into this guy's car and boy, there's just not a whole lot in here, suspiciously. So it is a clean car. It looks like it was recently detailed.

Check his footprints. Oh, yeah. No, it's not. It's not any… It's a sensible dress shoe. Nine and a half. Uh, and there's a, there's a, you know, in the little fold-out ashtray, there's some stubbed cigarettes. Hmm. And you're in the parking lot in front of Rosie's and you look out the windshield as you're digging around and he's watching you. Whoa. He's smoking a cigarette. He kind of gives you a friendly nod. I stand up. I go inside the restaurant. I sit down with him. Ding, ding.

You walk down. He's sitting there. He's maybe a little bit younger than you, early to mid forties. Um, what does this guy look like? I, I feel like kind of gray man, like he's sort of like just normal. So normal. Looks like he could be an accountant, kind of thing. He's got like a $2 haircut. Yeah. Super plain. Like, the bald spot on the back looks so normal. Kind of blotchy. So normal. Yeah. No, no sharp features that are distinguishable. Yeah, yeah.

The kind of guy that like the second you stop looking at him, you forget what he looks like. Yeah. Yeah. It's like Mr. Norman. Take a seat. So sick. I don't know your name. I don't make a habit of sitting down with strangers. Mr. Gray. They shake hands. They shake hands. You guys have to narrate. We have cameras. We have cameras. Pay the money to see the video. Dual narrate. You want to see the act out, you pay the fucking money. What's your poison?

And then I take out the vial and put it on the table. And he takes a drag off his cigarette. You've done well, Mr. Norman. We've done good. Paul rolled his eyes. Very well. Very good. Very good, Mr. Norman. Be that as it may, there are professionals that take care of this kind of thing. And I think that it would be in the best interest of you and your friends. He gestures across at Tiffany and Ray. They're slamming around on the hood of Shelby. It's getting a little real.

It's getting a little real. And I'm like, don't take off my shirt. Whoa, whoa, sorry. I just got so wrapped up in the moment. And then we start fighting. I'm like, Ray, we're in public. This was your plan. And I went along with it because I'm into it, frankly. Wait. You always wanted this. You didn't tell me. I didn't always want. No, I didn't. Always. I always want to make out with you. Yeah, of course. Yeah. But like in public. Not in public. Oh, my God. Why are you mad?

Why do we have to do this? I thought I was doing what you wanted. She's sleep-deprived. There have been like a few trucks that drove by and they gave me a hug. Garage. Garage. It's Dale. Dale. Dale. Tigger Dub. And Mr. Gray gestures to Jesus, who's like poking out of the kitchen. Yeah. And Jesus, at that moment, yells, oh, those two. Those two sexed up freaks are fighting now. Everybody look over there. And he, Mr. Gray, like, lifts his. He looks out of the kitchen like this. Yeah.

You got to pay money to see this face. You got to pay money. You got to describe that face. No, we don't describe anything anymore. We get paid. It's like a frog that's about to get run over. And he holds up. He holds up. And underneath his breath he goes, I hope Ray's okay. She seems to really be giving it to him. Yeah. And he sees you poking out and he holds up his coffee cup and kind of gestures to it for a top up.

And he gives you a thumbs up and then turns around to grab a coffee mug and obviously doesn't know where anything is, turns the other way, smashes into a guy who's coming out of the kitchen holding a bunch of plates. Great. So. Are you guys hiring? So that only further, that only further illustrates my point, Mr. Norman. We have people for this kind of thing. And frankly, you and your friends have, I mean, you've done well enough, but you've made sort of a mess of the whole situation. So.

Well, at least we're doing something. What have you and your people done? The best evidence he stubs out a cigarette of us doing our jobs is that you don't know anything at all. And he puts a couple of bucks on the table. I see my refills not coming. Gets up. He says, good day, Mr. Norman. I think we'll be speaking again soon. I swear if you let anything happen to this town and these kids. This is just one town, Mr. Norman. Ding, ding. He gets in his car and he drives away. But it's our town.

Fuck. Jesus. Jesus walks up drinking out of it like the giant coffee pot that was on the burner. Holy shit. I'm so fucking tired. It's crazy. It's decaf. Let's go. Fuck. The orange is decaf. I thought it was good morning juice. Did it work, you guys? Did it work? I don't know. I don't know what's working. Should I have shown my tits? No. Is it too late? Is it too late? Yes. And then you hear Dale go, no, it's gone. You should do it.

He keeps doing, he keeps turning around on the highway and driving back and forth. Really hard to do in a big rig. Oh fuck. He's power sliding a big rig. Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do Oh man, I'm gonna see those one day. Oh man, I'm gonna see those one day. Oh man, I'm gonna see those one day. Oh man, I'm gonna see those one day.
